Peter,

I have the SMC-FA 28-105/3,2-4,5
The colour clashes with the MZ-S body, but don't let that put you off ;-)
It's light but not as flimsy as it looks. I hit the car door off it last 
Saturday and all that happened was the lens cap flew off and dented the 
car. The contrast is very good and I've been pleased with the quality so far.

I too considered the 24-90 but the price put me off a bit as outwardly, it 
didn't look like it was worth the money. Optically, of course, could be a 
different story and I can't comment on that. I don't tend to use the 
24-28mm end so I went with the 28-105.
