I think most of it comes from things people who knew her remembered

But she was such a private person, the choice of a first person

just as easily been conveyed in a third person voice.

The moving still photos comes from a "film maker" who's too lazy to
un-check the "Ken Burns Effect" in iMovie.
MARK!

It worked for his "The Civil
War", but it's subsequent over-use by every Tom, Dick & Harry makes it
more of a Ken Rockwell Effect.

Bob - what was wrong with it for me was well put in the man's comment I
quoted. "The dimension to her life" was presumed, it seems. Maybe I'm
wrong, but I'm not aware she kept a journal or anything.

I'm also not a fan of still photos being moved about in the way it was
done.

I stick with my opinion of the film-maker here.

Ann,
You and I were both in Chicago when Vivian Maier was taking photos.
We both have first hand memories of those times.
I enjoyed the video as it gave some dimension to her life.
Was it pretentious twaddle? No more than the photos themselves are.

Love her photography , but thought this "work" pretentious twaddle.
Apparently, I'm not alone. This guy said it better for me.

First quote under the vid:

"I love Vivian Maier's photography, but this video is awful and is
borderline exploitative. I think you're also making assumptions
about her
life and attitude."
