Instead of attacking the problem from the catalog end, how about going
at it from the image end and not even using the raw files you've given
him. You could export the edited images as TIFFs or PSDs or...if you
want to keep using raw, save the metadata and previews to your files so
your edits are included and export as DNGs, put them on an external
drive and get them to him via sneakernet. He can import them into his
own HDD/catalog or a new catalog then if you want to keep them separate.
