I had oil on an old 135mm/3.5 Pentax SMC M42 mount. I had always wondered why the images looked..well.. like crap even though things seemed to be in the right spot.
I bought a replacement 135mm/2.5 off of Ebay and decided to do my own handy work.. I opened up the 135mm/3.5... attempted to get at the aperture blades that were sticky with oil... got frustrated after 15minutes.. never got past the inner casing of the lens.. totally screwed up the f-stop ring and focusing ring... tossed it in the garbage about 5 minutes later. Moral of the story - don't try to fix a lens yourself unless you're a professional camera repair dude/dudette :) Cheers, Dave -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Nitin Garg Sent: Thursday, March 14, 2002 8:01 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: performance question <snip> I have heard once the oil sets in, it only gets worse slowly.
