Christine and Darrel learned while they were here that Greenwich is the
world centre of everything, including, you may be surprised to learn, sperm
production.
That's hardly suprising, with the world's best College for training
seamen being located there.
Just around the corner from my house is Enderby Wharf, and here in East
Greenwich there are numerous references to the Enderby family. Before
Enderby Wharf was part of the transatlantic cable factory (now closed, to be
replaced by a cruise liner terminal) it had been a whaling station, and the
Enderbys where a prominent family of whalers, whale oil being the main fuel
used before petroleum.
