Don't want to start a big discussion on this, bit imho chemtrails are a pile of hooey. Typical conspiracy theory: take a few unrelated bits of evidence, mix with pure conjecture, assume causal relationships that just aren't there and from all that one has a very convincing "theory".
No need to get into the details of the "theory" except to note that there are so many variations of it that if they were all believed we would have tens of thousands of aircraft outfitted to carry out the spraying. There would be regular military aircraft, the special white "ghost planes", regularly scheduled commercial passenger jets (that have presumably been secretly outfitted with tanks, nozzles and are filled with evil chemicals at passenger airports before or during fueling and loading of luggage and passengers). The numbers of people involved with this conspiracy would be huge! From commercial pilots to those who outfitted the planes with the tanks, etc., to the ground crews who regularly fill the tanks with noxious chemicals (they would know it's not fuel and that something weird is afoot!). Then there would be all the military/government operatives involved in all the same stuff with the military and government aircraft which are spraying. PLUS, there would be all those involved in the planning and administration of this huge and comprehensive worldwide programme. We would be talking hundreds of thousands of people including lots of non-military non-government civilian types who would have to be involved in this massive endeavor. Yet not one single whistle blower in over a dozen years since this bizarre theory took off on the internet. Not a one. Unfortunately there are many people out there who have systemic diseases similar to chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia that are resisting all attempts by western medicine to diagnose and treat. These unfortunate people want answers as to what is making them sick and they have found an answer in chemtrails. They populate message boards, dutifully reporting how often the planes fly over, the patterns that they see, the strange stuff they find on their lawns or in collected rainwater, it all feeds into the theory and reinforces it in everyone's mind. But the truth is that nothing is happening other than that commercial air traffic has increased exponentially over the past few decades and there are more aircraft spreading more contrails. (the "con" is short for "condensation" and that's what they are: water, ordinary clouds) All these contrails spread (depending on atmospheric conditions) and noticeably increase cloud cover and haze. I could go on about individual claims of chemtrail advocates but I won't bother. Suffice to say that, like most conspiracy theories there is nothing to it. Yes, these advocates can be very persuasive and their videos and films can be very convincing, but it's all bullshit. In my humble opinion, anyway.
