The concern about red dye was with relation to the dye used decades
ago, which is no longer being used for anything.  The red dyes used
today seem to be safe, and are also used in human food products.

That being said, there is no evidence that hummers are more attracted
to the sight of red dye, so there is no reason to use it, and I do
not.
