Fortunately the project was cancelled, and I know why. I quote "To keep the
Cormorant watertight, the doors, inlets, and any covers required inflatable
seals." 

Now, I don't know if you ever tried to inflate a seal, but believe me, when
they're flappin' around as you try to apply your lips to the appropriate
blowhole, those flippers can really scratch.
