Well this sux. My HP B8550 keeps alternately reporting a paper jam then a carriage jam. This happened in spite of the fact that there was no paper loaded, and the paper path is seems to be extraordinarily clear of obstructions. The print head seems to be permanently stuck in the storage position. If anyone has any experience that might lead to freeing it I'd really appreciate it. As it is after following the trouble shooting guide and downloading HP's troubleshooting software, (which pretty much did nothing more than confirm what I already knew), I'm left with sending the damned thing to HP for repair. I'm still hoping to avoid that but it's a fading hope.

P.S. Anyone who thinks that telling me to buy Epson/Canon/Etc. next time is clever, well 1.) If it were in my budget I would have, and 2.) I'm just a tiny bit unstable right now and can't be held responsible if I decided to hunt you down...

Don't lose heart, they might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthly search.
