Always did, neophyte! > > Where's the metering on it?! IIRC, first you must have a battery in it. Then when you slide the knob on the left side of the lens mount/prism base up til it clicks, you have metering. Be certain to turn it off after you shoot. Don't forget, manual ƒ-stops. Unless you are in Auto on a lens that has that functional slide switch behind it's aperture adjustment ring, which keeps the lens wide open for focus, and isn't stopped down until you trip the shutter, which I think also trips the auto switch back to manual - maybe not. To set the ASA, lift up on the shutter speed knob and turn to the desired number. Shutter speeds will most likely be a bit, or a lot, slower than you set, by tradition, unless it just came back from CLA. The dial under the film rewind crank is just for notation of what kind of film, if any, is in the camera. To rewind when finished, press the button on the bottom of the camera in to disengage the wind mechanism, and crank the rewind knob (not too fast or the film will get static discharge lightning fog) until you feel the release of tension, if you wish to still have the tongue out, or until it goes fwap fwap fwap if you want it all inside the cartridge. > How do I even open the back to put the film in?! How the heck did they do > it back in the "old days" anyways?! Pull up on the rewind crank on the left (shooters positioning). Helps to use the crank handle by bringing it to the vertical position. Once film is in, push the handle/knob back down, maybe a little rotation until it's slips down into the fully down position. If you are unfamiliar with the white 'needles' film loading, you push the films tongue into the bottom part of the take-up reel between the needles. keeping the film against the advance gears with either a finger or just by tension you can impart with the rewind knob, make sure the film stays in the needles until the full width of the film is past the tongue on both sides of the sprocket gear, and not twisted in any way by having the sprocket holes one off on one side of the film, then just click the back shut, advance until a 'zero' (0) shows in the frame counter window on the advance lever hub.. > Crap, I'm spent, think I'm going to put it back in the display cabinet!
