My 60-250 failed after about a year of mostly sitting in a gadget bag. It was awarded an all expenses paid trip back to Japan, as they couldn't repair it in Canada for some reason. It's been good since it came back. It is a lens I use rarely, I've heard that this is harder on the SDM lenses than daily use.
