Going even further OT, we had a C-17 do a low pass overhead yesterday. The US Antarctic Program flew it in from Hawaii as they're about to restart flights down to the ice. I'm a terrible judge of distance but I'd say it was at 1,000 feet or less. Certainly sounded like it. Sadly I didn't have time to grab a camera as I rushed outside to see was making all that noise, just in time to see it fly almost directly over my house. What a sight.
