#1: check the batteries.
#2: see #1. :-)

Try a set of brand new plain old non-rechargeable AA's.
Clean the battery contacts and the contacts in the flash.
Try pulling out the diffuser and shoving it back in again.

If getting a replacement, check the Metz Mecablitz line. Many support
P-TTL and they are all cheaper then Pentax.
