It then takes a moment to stabilize the image; stabilization is indicated in the viewfinder with a "shaking hand" symbol. If you fully depress the shutter before this symbol appears, SR may be ineffective, and my experience suggests that the image may even be degraded, compared to SR being turned off. Once you release the shutter button on the K10D, SR becomes inactive, and you have to start the cycle over again.
