SR also turns itself off when you set a time exposure mode. A useful feature because you're supposed to turn it off when the camera is mounted on a tripod and it's ridiculously easy to forget to do it manually.

By pressing the shutter button partially? Seems like it would need to
have some sort of auto off switch so the batteries won't drain...
