What you see isn't his eyelids but the whites of his eyes.

Frank, here is my take and please notice no intent to offend you in any way.

In terms of a scene I agree with Paul and it is a very worthy image. 
However, I think that for complete work I would need to see the eyes of 
the main character. However it seems *to me* that the man is in the 
middle of the blink. That makes it a bit problematic for me.
