Frank, it is a slice of life that we often seek to ignore or avoid. I think it is important to recognize the existence of people who are in this condition, and to think about what we can and should do about it. I am involved with several programs that reach out to the homeless and the hungry. I think that any photograph or anything else that calls attention to the problem is a valuable attempt to help more of us to see the problem and consider what our response should be.
