On 27/12/12, Tom C, discombobulated, unleashed:

The creator of some of my favorite shows has died. Among the many:

UFO
Thunderbirds
Space 1999
Captain Scarlet
The Secret Service
Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (one of my favorite sci-fi movies
seen at the drive in when I was about 10... wow!)

Same here. About 7 or 8 years ago I had the great pleasure to film an
interview with Gerry Anderson at his office at Pinewood Studios in
Buckinghamshire. He was a perfect gentleman and I was enjoying a perk
of my job - meeting someone I had always respected. Can't remember much
about it except that Pinewood has its own security force and I had
parked illegally - space was tight I recall. I had a 'parking ticket'
reminding me not to park there again or face the wrath of studio
executives! The ticket lived for years on my camera case but alas, it
has vanished as these things inevitably do.

Great memory.

To this day, some Dinky toys live on nearby shelves: an interceptor and
ground mobile from UFO, and (of course) Thunderbird 2.

On the subject of mad boffins and boy toys, I hope everyone watched this
earlier tonight:

If not, watch it now - a bloody brilliant programme!

BBC sez "No can do!"
Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK
only, but all BBC iPlayer Radio programmes are available to you.
                                 Why?
