Thanks, Don. The Q is just a delight to use, IMO. I have always liked my
Pentax gear but the Q reminds me of my ME Super that was just a ton of
fun, even though it had limitations. But I like the Q better. The issues
with the small sensor are there, but they haven't been a major
limitation to me.
If we ever get some snow I hope to try out the Q for snow crystals. I
tweaked my extreme macro set up for the Q - except now it is not an
extreme macro setup, just a macro setup. I figure that the small sensor
means that I will be able to do larger snow crystals at 1:1
magnification and would rarely have to go much past 2:1. (Really big
crystals could even be less than 1:1.) That will greatly simply the
process since with an APS C camera the snow crystals require 4:1 to 10:1
in extreme cases. Using flash I can shoot at a low ISO and hopefully
minimize noise. Focus peaking looks like it will be a huge asset as
well. I'm a bit concerned about the "electronic shutter" but will see
how that plays out - I can always cut the ambient light and just use the
flash. So, if it ever snows I'll give it a try.
