I picked up one of the Sigma EF 610 DG ST flashes.
Works great.

I have not set anything to slow sync.
The problem is not aperture.  It is shutter speed.
I would think that if the camera is using a flash that it would be smart
enough
(it is a computer, after all) to sync instead of shooting at the metered
setting.  Seems to not make sense.

Anyway, tonight spics of dancers (practice for the job) came out nice, in
general.

I wonder if the camera might have an issue?  Possibility?  Maybe I should go
Manual or Flash Sync mode.
