Maybe I'm missing something, but is the live view on the K-01 that much

Focus peaking makes all the difference. For high magnification where the
DOF is minimal focus peaking provides great data about exactly where the
focal plane is. You can put it right where you need to maximize DOF or
to take a series of shots for stacking (something I have yet to try.)
Without focus peaking live view is helpful but I don't see a significant
improvement in focusing accuracy compared to using the finder. As I said
in my original post, if focus peaking were incorporated into a DSLR's
live view I would not need the K-01.
Also, I find that my macro work is far improved by having an articulated
(or at least tilting) screen, and I thought the K-01 had one, but
discovered I was wrong when I went shopping this morning.
I'd love to have an articulated or titling screen but so far have been
able to overcome the absence of one. I don't think it would make a huge
difference in the quality of my work but little things like that add up.
Finally, AFAICT the K-01 doesn't have TAv mode, don't you miss that?
(It's one of the things I'm loving most about the K-5.)
The K-01 has TAv - just set the ISO to auto and set the dial to manual
mode. The screen even says "TAv Mode." If ISO is set to manual then you
are in full manual. Personally, I never shoot in TAv, I use full manual
for most everything.
