Hi Ann I have a Smugmug site that has a LOT of galleries and I had the posterous blog. I'm moving the blog to squarespace. At this point my intention is still to have most of the photos, including all of the family snapshots on Smugmug.
On squarespace I'll have the blog and a few selects in just a single portfolio. (The photos that are there now are just to experiment with the site.) I've added a couple of pages that aren't activated yet with information about the classes and workshops. It will also have information and a few PDF docs and other info for the enrolled students behind a password. I've tested that and it seems to work well. I'm using Smugmug galleries with guest uploads as a place for students to submit their assignments. That's been working very well. When we do the in-class critiques we can turn on the exif data with each photo. That's been very helpful. I really wish smugmug would add a real blog page format. The old journal worked pretty well, but they haven't really put any development into that for years. And I don't care for the format of the newer journal page. At least smugmug and squarespace look to be somewhat integrated. I'll be testing that part out over the next few days. I think with more fine tuning this combination is going to work pretty well.
