Yes, that's it. For creative stuff, it's wide open focus and stop down to desired aperture and either let the camera choose the shutter speed or use manual metering just like the old days. When walking about and for quick grabs, I set infinity at the f8 hyperfocal point. That gives focus between about 1.5 metres and infinity. I let the camera choose the shutter speed and ISO combination.
