Right now 36MP makes full frame more interesting IMO. That's a
significant jump. 24MP full frame doesn't excite me all that much to
be honest. It will be interesting to see how a lot of classic glass
looks at 24MP too. A fellow photographer noticed some of his L glass
and a few leica lenses were not fully resolving on his 5dmk2....
on
Pixel pitch of a k-5 is 4.81µm  (according to dxomark)...guess what
the D800 is? 4.88µm. The flipside of this coin is that as pixel pitch
decreases in size, the effects of diffraction are magnified. The
pentax Q is in diffraction right from f2 or so. Imagine if you scaled
up that sensor.
