After installing the update on the Q my initial impression is that the 05 Telephoto is much faster and more snappy in AF than before - but we are having an uncommonly bright and sunny day here, so maybe it is just the light. Kudos to Pentax to continue the upgrades for the original Q. Adding focus peaking the the K-5 would be a boon as well but hopefully they will have a more comprehensive update.

I thought I had the latest but found that I was still at v 1.1 - so maybe
this one is new.
Yes, it sounds like:
Improved contrast AF performance.
Improved stability for general performance.
Note: When update is executed, the camera settings will be returned to
default settings.

I think it is interesting that apparently the Q10 and the Q are
different enough that the firmware is not identical and also that
firmware improvements keep coming after the camera is discontinued.

I keep hoping for a firmware update that would give focus peaking
capabilities to the K-5. Maybe there is hope?
