My son and I went out on one of the first clear nights (Tuesday) we've had in a
few weeks.

We looked in the direction that the comet should be - saw nothing.

We stood there looking around from 20:00 to about 20:45 (that's a half-hour
past sunset until well over an hour past sunset).

We didn't see a blessed thing.

Before leaving, I started just rotating the camera and taking shots of the
empty sky to see if future enhancements to the photos might show me what my
eyes missed.

When I got home and started processing, I didn't see anything.

Finally today, I went into LR to delete all those wastes of time and found the
darned thing. Almost invisible - I knew we'd waited too long to look but
didn't have a chance earlier.

So, for the fun of it I'll start with the hyper-processed, super-cropped image
which just barely shows the little fuzzball. It's on the far right of the
image, forming a sort of triangle with the two stars:

I couldn't even see those STARS with my eyes when we were out there.

And here's the original shot - representing very well what I saw when looking
out over the lake that evening:

You can just barely almost sorta kinda see it in the full pulled-back 80mm shot.

(and, yes, I see I have dust on my sensor. Bummer.)
