I'm taking steps to get me a Spyder4Pro... I think it is a good
compromise for my purposes. Meanwhile I applied Spyder2 to "Standard"
built-in profile and it looks very much like my old screen, which is a
good thing - at least I am consistent.
I hope to be able to get full advantage of this screen when Spyder4Pro
arrives.

Hi!
My old (like 10 years old) Philips monitor finally expired. To that
end (or should I say - to its demise :-) ) I bought a new screen.
It is Dell U2410. It has pre-calibrated Adobe RGB and sRGB profiles
and even comes with its own (specific to this sample) color
calibration factory report.
My question is then: do I re-apply Spyder2? or do I just use one of
the profiles? If not Spyder2 - then which profile - Adobe RGB or
sRGB?
If you do want to try one of the factory profiles, Adobe RGB is a
wider color space. You might want to see how well it matches your
printer output. If you're only posting photos on the web or viewing
on screen, sRGB might be the best choice. But if you're serious
about good printer output, I would upgrade to Spyder4 or another
current calibration tool that measures ambient light and then
recalibrate, you can always switch back to the factory calibration.
Since calibration doesn't hold forever, I suspect the factory setting
will eventually wander off mark.

Thanks.
