Peter, Your cries for help are sounding more and more desperate. You are on the verge of doing some real damage to your LX if you start to mess-up the viewfinder distances by trying to disassemble it at home. Don't do that!
If your hands are too big or fine motor skills are not that good, get a woman to help you. Explain and show her what the problem is, and let her gently wiggle a Q-tip covered with wet and/or dry lens tissue in to clean up the mess. If you cannot do that, let a camera repair technician do it for you. Virtually every kind of 'Canned Air' that I have ever tried had the same problem you did. Press down hard and you get a greasy propellant residue. I stopped using any when somebody suggested that they just push the dirt deeper into the camera. Regards, Bob S. (I mean not the viewfinder, but the glas on the camera body which is under the viewfinder and which you see when you remove the viewfinder. Hope you understand). As I told you I foolishly managed to stain the underside of this glass with fluid from an air-can, so I would like to clean it from the smear. Maybe this is rather a job for an LX repair shop?
