I don't use Elements, but I will say that I noticed some buggy things when I upgraded to LR4 and then tried to use photoshop (cs4) with it... When I would try to open a file from LR into Ps to do a final tweak, it wouldn't render with the LR edits I had already done, it would just show up in Ps looking like a sooc image. I finally figured out that there is a new series of options to click along the way - there's a dialog box that opens, and I was used to just hitting "enter" a couple of times & I was in. But somehow, the "render using Lightroom" option was no long the default, and I have to make sure I click that...
Did you recently switch to LR4? Is your version of Elements the most recent? Maybe something similar is happening? (For creating panoramas, I still haven't worked out how to get Ps to open several images from LR... I have to export from LR, and then open the file in Ps...) Sorry I can't be more helpful...
