Yes, sorry for not explaining myself. Sprites are little understood,
but they are essentially lightning that shoots upward out of the top
of a storm. Very rarely seen or documented.

I think the fact that we now have two known images of them associated
with a geomagnetic storm may give scientists and important clue,
however. Beyond being a cool image, I wonder if this is a great clue
to further understanding sprites -
Given that the APOD image he refers to also was with aurora, I wonder
if this is truly a lightning sprite or rather some previously
unseen/unexplained phenomena associated with the geomagnetic storm
itself
 - OR -
whether storm lightning sprite generation is somehow related/linked to
coincidental geomagnetic activity that is not strong enough to
manifest itself as aurora, but the association is made clear with two
photos of sprites at the same time as geomagnetic storms.
