All things are ephemeral, the only way to insure longevity is multiple
copies, and wide disbursal.

Meanwhile, my "other system" the one that I back up my sorted photo files to,

install CentOS, and set up apple networking so it can work as a NAS.
I do have the unsorted copies of the raw files, that get backed up on initial
read, and the disk seems to still be readable, but I'm not feeling very
comfortable about my files right now.
