I shot a car for the Times last night. It's going to be part of a dream cruise intro article that I've written for August publication. A half dozen friends of the car owner came to watch. I was hoping to shoot through dusk until after dark, but the drive-in restaurant where we were shooting closed at nine. So the last few minutes were frantic, and I took the camera off the tripod and started shooting some handheld. Then we packed up the gear and left. Except for the Slik graphite tripod and Manfrotto three-way head that was sitting in the grass. I didn't realize it was missing until we had driven the 40 miles home and unloaded the van. The restaurant was in a lightly travelled location, so I thought the tripod might still be sitting in the grass, and I drove back. No luck. Gone.
Well, I was fond of the head but the tripod was just so-so. Ordered a new one set of sticks today after doing some research. Love the Gitzos, but they're too rich for me. I have to show a profit at this stuff. Some Benbos looked good, as did a few other brands. But this one had the most positive reviews, and the specs are well suited to what I do. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/584476-REG/Manfrotto_055CXPRO3_055CXPRO3_3_Section_Carbon_Fiber.html For now I'm going to try to make do with a fairly stout Manfrotto ball head that I bought years ago and never grew accustomed to. Maybe it will be love this time around. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
