It is purely subjective, since I didn't have the K-5 side by side,
but the autofocus seemed to be noticeably quicker, and I didn't seem
to lose any shots due to bad autofocus.

I got off work about 10PM, and stopped to see some friends play
at JJ's, a local dive bar.

The stage lighting wasn't as bright as it often is, judging by the
exposure data, and it was heavier in the red & yellow than it has
been a lot of the time lately.

I'm looking forward to having more time to actually *use* the camera.

Since today was a work day (we're on a big crunch at the office) I
didn't have as much time as I'd like to sort things down, and pick
just a few from the facebook set for flickr, but if you're curious
this facebook link should be publically accessible:

The manual focus test from Thursday night seems to be spot on:

My old K-5 is at PCR in Sandy Eggo, getting the sensor repaired,
and converted to IR. I'll be looking for both IR and visible light
blocking filters. At least a 49mm, and probably an 82mm
(and a 77-82mm converter). I figure that if I want to shoot pure IR,
then I can just use Live View for composing and focusing.

Do people have any recommendations for IR pass and IR blocking filters
for use on the camera?

This stuff looks like what I'll need to make good IR pass filters for
my flashes, both studio and speedlight:

Even if I get the "small" 24x48 inch sheet, I expect that I'll have
plenty left over, if anyone needs some, let me know, and I'll post
when I get it. I'll wait to order until I've got confirmation that
my camera can indeed be fixed.

Also, a while back I picked up some bargain K-mount back caps. They don't
work so well, as they don't fit tightly on the back of the lens.
Does anyone have recommendations for where to get good back caps, with the
brim that covers the electrical contacts?

I like to use the same caps on all of my lenses, manual or auto focus,
so I can just move the cap from one lens to the other when I change
lenses.
