Pentax licensed the K mount for one dollar, a lot of smaller players in
camera manufacturing took them up on it. But it was always unlikeley
that their major rivals, (Minolta, Nikon, Canon, and Olympus), would.
It would be sweet to be able to pick and choose among the Gems of each
manufacture from the 1960's on to build a kit.

Well, they ~could~ have standardized things when the industry went bayonet but

Same thing's happened in other industries. Everyone wants you to buy their
products exclusively, not mix-and-match. Everything's proprietary these days,
by design.
Sigh.

I love the mannequins on the stairs.
Seeing the m42 Super-Tak on that Voigtlander makes me wonder how
different things would have been if they could have standardized on a
bayonet mount when screw mount was phased out. Not Invented Here
syndrom is just such a pain in the ass.

A few weeks ago, I acquired a nice example of the rare-ish Voigtlander
Bessaflex in black. What a pretty camera. Takes the same Voigtlander grip
and trigger winder as their R rangefinders, and the feel of the body is
pretty similar too. In other words, nice and solid.

Also upgraded to LR5 this month. Spotting film scans is now half-way
enjoyable.
