The SMC-M 75-150 f4 should be perfect for the ME Super Another alternative is the SMC-M 135 f3.5 Both can be picked up really cheaply. They are compact and easy to handle. The 75-150 is a one-touch zoom which makes for easier use. I think either of these would be ideal for an 8/9 year old boy.
