I think I actually understand you, Zos. You're trying to say that in
terms of brand exposure, they're doing everything to hide Pentax.

In my totally uneducated opinion, Ricoh seems to be going long way to
change public perception so that all the old gear that we have would
be viewed as not just old, but rather obsolete. Then we would buy new
gear and Ricoh will rip the benefits, so to say. If this is a case,
then I suppose this is a valid marketing _tactics_... Is it a good
_strategy_? I don't know. Time will tell.

It has to be said and understood that Pentax is no longer a family
owned small business oriented to the very special clientele. Pentax,
like I said earlier, seems to preoccupy itself with colorful bodies or
things like Pentax Q, which IMO is total waste of good engineering and
marketing resources. But then again, I am among the younger Pentaxians
who joined the fold some 10+ years ago. So I don't count.

No matter what is the exact look of that FB avatar, my gear still
works and shoots straight. I hope so does yours too... That said, it
is possible that my next vacation abroad will involve no Pentax gear
whatsoever.
