One weird thing about the way the IR conversion works is that the red and blue 
channels are sensitive to IR, but the green isn't.  I'd like to see the results
of a camera where either all the channels were, in which case the IR flash would
just desaturate things, or one where just the red channel were.

This experimentation is giving me some ideas about what other colorspaces might 
be 
like.  What would things look like without color sensitivity to red, or blue.  
Rather 
than just disabling the channel, convert it to B&W so you get the luminence 
data, just 
not the color data.
Also, what would things look like if instead or red, green and blue, our 
sensitivity
were centered around Orange or Yellow and Indigo.
