As I understand it, camera warranties aren't offered by Pentax Japan, 
they're offered by the various distributors, if at all.

The extended warranty offered by Pentax USA is for 2 years and  costs 
$50 at B+H, as opposed to the $25 for the 4 year ZX warranty.

Maybe Pentax thinks we're going to beat the crap out of our MZ-S's.
