Thought this might be interesting fodder for some. I find the "analysis" lacking much depth however.
http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/default.asp?newsID=5404&news=what+brand+should+I+buy+into+market+analysis A thought-less and absolutely generic article considering todays advanced manufacturing techniques, computer aided designs, terrific lens coatings and all kinds of exotic superior glass. Almost all the manufacturers are as good as ever. It is just a choice based on your childhood preferences or first buying choices as a student. As a student I bought the (made in Japan) K1000 SE from Oldens of New York on the 70s. And I stuck with Pentax even though I still own a Leica Film SLR system, a Ricoh compact automatic film camera, Panasonic standby digital P&S. I have also simultaneously owned a Nikon FG and the Russian Kiev-19 that took Nikon lenses. You then stick to that brand because of the inventory of lenses built up over the years. And that bit about the Pentax Kit Lens is nonsense. It IS the finest Kit lens, especially the 18-55 ALII. Regards.
