On the export dialog box you can tell it the maximum dimensions to apply to one of the sides. I have it set to the long side. You'll need to be judicious about choosing a number that's neatly divisible so that the system doesn't have to do any thinking and mangling to fit the common ratios, such as 1:1, 1:2, 2:3, 3:4. 960 is a good number. The duodecimal system is much better than the decimal system in many ways.
