That's impressive.

On a somewhat related note, I'm getting pretty frustrated with the low-light
capabilities of my *istDS. Last Saturday I went on a hike along the Chattooga
River in North Georgia. It was a bright, sunny day, but in the forest even ISO
3200 didn't produce good exposures. Along the river itself, there were sharp
contrasts of the light on the river and the deep shadow of the opposite shore.

There I was able to get decent exposures, though with shape contrasts, at ISO
1600. But the images were very noisy, most evident in shadowed areas.
Attempting noise reduction in LR under detail/noise reduction/luminance
resulted in significant loss of detail. Where noise had previously been evident
it looked like the image had been panted as a water color.

I''ve pretty much decide to get myself a K-5. The only issue is whether it will
be new or used. My question is, will I be able to get cleaner sharper images in
situations like this? What about better balanced exposure in conditions of high
contrast, again like this one?

Apologies if I've hijacked Godfrey's post. It fed into the issues I've been
fretting about, albeit with a different systems.

Thanks,
