You need to haul it out more JCO, it`s a fun lens! I don`t know of any Pentax M42 TC`s either, don`t think they made any. The Soligor C/D 7 AUTO TELE CONVERTER 2X is the best M42 TC I`ve found so far, only used it on the Vivitar 400/5.6 though. The Vivitar 2X Macro is a great TC, mine is a K-mount (I don`t think it comes in M42). I put the M42-Kmount adapter on the TC and mount it to the 1000mm, put the LX with the FB-1 and FC-1 with the SC-60 screen, and it`s a pretty bright view. Mirror slap becomes a big issue at 2000mm, so MLU is a must, it might not be such a large issue with the wooden tripod, but I use the Bogen 3051 with the 501 video head mostly because the wooden tripod head does not go very high or low (azimuth), for birds in trees. When the LX mirror slaps at 2000mm, you can see the front of the lens shake. The Vivitar 2X Macro TC gets the close focus much closer than 100 ft., which I like very much. I was using Supra 400 mostly, Fuji 800 NPZ, and 800 NHG II. The pics will tell the story, I`m going to ditch work for a little bit and take in the film in early so I can get it back this afternoon (hopefully). If anything nice turns out, I`ll put it up on my webpage. Sorry for the LONG windage. Steve Larson Redondo Beach, California - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
