Thanks Kenneth! Unfortunately there was no better light that day. It's a lovely mountain region with an awful weather, most of the time it's heavy overcast or raining.
I've received complaints regarding 500px from others as well, and really don't know what to say. For me it's working fast and flickr is very slow. It might depend on your location.
