Nitin, For sheer sturdiness and rapid setup, nothing can touch the Cullmann Titam monopod (CT-304, I think). It's a two-section job that extends by gravity and weighs more than 2 kg without the head (but with the QR base). It has been supplmented by the CT-305, which has a built-in swivel, but I don't know the swivel's weight limit and I've seen the CT-305 sold only in Germany. I use my CT-304 with a Bogen 3265 pistol grip, but as we've discussed the 3265's weight limit is 5.7 pounds (about 2.2 kg). And anyway, the Bogen is so heavy that taking it along is not a "light" decision. Avoid the four-section monopods; they're too flimsy and take too long to extend. Slik makes an excellent Pro monopod--thick, rigid, quick to set up, and tall. Ace Photo of Sterling, VA sells a two-section Benbo monopod. It seems to weigh next to nothing and sells for less than $70. When I tried it in the store, it was love at first lift; my heart sank that I had settled on such a heavy unit as the Cullmann.
