Yes I have. I use my 135mm-600mm SMCT on a monopod.
It's a hell of a lot easier to compose than it would be
with a triopod. It's not really too hard to hold steady. I use
one hand on the body ( trigger finger) and my other
hand towards the front of the lens. It does get hard
to hold steady when its windy though. I always use a strong short
camera strap on the body around my neck just in case
something slips...
