My Sigma 24-70/f2.8 came back repaired under warranty. I'm not sure if
it was Sigma's warranty or warranty from the local store I bought it
from. Either way, it was no hassle for me other than when I noticed it
was broke & not having it while it was away being repaired.

I took my Tokina 28-70/f2.8 that was acting flaky (gave F-- readings on
my K10D & K20D) into the same local store to have their repair guy check
it out. He couldn't find anything wrong with it, and so far it hasn't
failed again since then. I'm figuring it's due to the perversity of the
universe that it's only broke until you take it in to be repaired & they
can't find anything wrong. I've noticed that with cars before.

That "repair guy" is the same one who kept my K1000 for about 16 months,
but was finally able to get the shutter regulated & working again. He
decided not to charge me because it took so long.

I'd have willingly paid. I love my K1000.

Oh ... I went out to Arizona & New Mexico last January and took a bunch of
photos.

Hi Rob,

Good to hear things worked out for you. No K3 deals around here
either... As for the P&S, I'm waiting to see your pictures ;)

Seasons Greetings to you too!

Hi Team,

It's been another tumultuous year for me personally, lots of things to
contend with on the life front but all seems to be coming together
slowly towards the end of the year. The good thing is that I have been
earning money (often too many hours) but also finding time to get out
and shoot my Pentax kit at least locally. I've been venturing into
exciting new territories for me, some of which I may be able to share
next year.

I do have to review my kit over the next year, the K5's are working
for me but not as well as I imagine a set of K3 bodies might in the
similar circumstances. Unfortunately there have been no notable deals
on K3's in Oz (excepting a silver kit) and I don't expect discounting
as the local currency is continually weakening, that said it may be a
better time to sell some of my excess gear though I'm not remotely
excited by the notion of the sales process.

Because of my current living situation I tend to pack a a fairly
robust photo-kit, basically I'm prepared for anything but in doing so
I'm lugging about an almost 10kg pack virtually everywhere I go. It is
wearing on me and those about me, so in an effort to keep the peace
and get sensible again I finally bit the bullet and bought a point and
shoot that will suffice in the 50% of situations where I really don't
need a honking great DSLR. So tonight I get to test out my most
loathed on this list brand of camera in low light at the local carols
by candle-light with my now seven year old son.

I might even post a GESO :)

Seasons greeting to all and I hope to be list-lurking less next year.

Cheers,
