 I'd never seen it before that day.  It appeared at about 2pm and the 
time of year was just right that the sun was the right height at the 
right time.  Luck was a factor :)

 Thats a good question.  I don't know if its even possible ;)  
Technically speaking, its hard to maintain colour saturation at the 
extremes of film latitude.  That rainbow was about +2 stops exposed, 
but may have been a little more when at full brightness.

 The photo does help to bring back the memory; it'll take a while to 
forget that icy wind.  Maybe thats why I tend to like my own photos 
more than other people do ;)

 In general my rainbow shots seem to turn out reasonably well but 
thats because I get lucky with my location and can compose a bit of 
scenery with it.  I don't see many rainbows though.
