Thanks, Alan. Yes, he is built for the cold. Over the past several days, we have had high winds and temps below 10 F. He is invigorated by the cold, and want to stay out and play longer.
In this image, I had been throwing that soft ball. and he was retrieving it and then running around the yard with it. Here he has dropped it for me to pick up and throw again, but he is staring at it so that he can snatch it away at the last moment in order to tempt me into chasing him. He is disappointed that I am not willing to stay out in the cold for more than 15 minutes at a time in this weather. We leave Monday for 4 weeks in Maui. He will spend that time in a kennel owned by friends of ours in Carmel, NY, near Newburgh. He has a great time up there, playing in the cold and snow with the other dogs, but is always happy to see us when we come to pick him up and take him home.
