Hi there Wendy
Portraiture? The lens - definitly! (I shoot portratis in a studio, so the
body is not the problem - as long as the shutter is reliable, and
focusing/viewfinder works great).
For casual portraiture (not necessarily studio) the SPEED is important - buy
a FAST LENS - like a SMC A or FA 1.4/85mm (BEST CHOISE, but very expensive).
Maybe a 1.8/135mm. I own a SMC 2.0/85mm - it's nice and small, but NOT
SHARP - the results will definitely disapoint you - believe me!. The SMC-M
2.8/105mm (rare) is a sharper/better lens in this price bracket. Or the
2.5/135mm (a brilliant, rare lens, which I unfortunatly let go some years
ago....%#"&%\*/!!).
Spend the money on the lens - you'll never regret it!!!

I like to be able to "count" the hairs in the eye lashes - so to me MEDIUM
FORMAT is the best in the studio. If you have more than two-three people
(groups) in the frame - MF is a MUST! That's one good reason NOT to go for a
diggie - the resolution is simply not good enough - it hasn't even reached
35mm quality (like 10-20 Megapixel) yet!
For casual portraits, autofocus IS very handy. (I love the PZ1/PZ1-p, even
thoug the AF is a little slow).
Good luck
Jens

I'm thinking of selling mine. It doesn't get used, and that's a shame as
it's gorgeous.
It deserves a better home.
I'm dithering about it which is why I haven't stated a price.
Okay, as someone is bound to ask and I'll have to think of an answer -
US$300 anyone? (inc. hood & both caps)

Wendy
