Ken -
Here's a scan of the K-3 and K-5 baseplates:

Thanks for the info Mark.
I could drop them both on a scanner and scan the baseplates if that
would help.
I'd apprciate that Mark.
I'll probably get the RRS L plate for the K-5 as its appears to be
the only L plate currently available that's even close. I had a
universal L plate from Kirk that I got rid of and is no longer available.
The feature that appears to be the limiter is the forward protrusion
along the front edge of the K-3 base plate.

Hi Ken -
I compared my K-5 and K-3 base plates and even tried a few
measurements. The K-3 plate is slightly longer in the side to side
dimension - maybe 1/8th to 3/16th of an inch longer. The hole for the
tripod mount is about 1/16th of an inch further from the sides, so it
seems to be positioned porportionately between the two models. They
seem to be the same in general in the front to back dimension but
there are minor differences in the outline. The biggest dimensional
difference between he two cameras is in the top to bottom measure,
but that does not affect the base plate.
I could drop them both on a scanner and scan the baseplates if that
would help. My guess is that tolerances on the L bracket would have
to be very close for the size differences to matter.

I'm currently seeking an 'L' bracket for my K-3 and have yet to find
one. Both Kirk & RRS don't plan on making one as of today.
An 'L' plate is avaialble for the K-5, K-5II, K-5IIS and K7 family
of bodies and I could use that plate assuming the base plate is the
same size & shape as the K-3.
Anybody have a K-3 and one of the other listed cameras that could
compare baseplates and let me know of the similarity/difference?
Thanks in advance.
